Building Blocks for Sensory Integration

In this two-day experiential workshop, we'll present the basic developmental movement patterns that provide the foundation (or building blocks) for an individual’s attention, sensory integration, and cognitive development. The relationship between the progression of these primary movement patterns and auditory and visual skill development will be discussed in lecture and case examples. Beginning with the support of the primitive reflexes, we'll explore the natural progression of movement through hands-on demonstration, video examples, and movement labs. We'll address the difficulties that arise when patterns are poorly developed, over-used, or lack the support for efficient and effective performance. Participants will leave with a systematic way to assess and document movement challenges that arise from a lack of adequate sensory-motor integration, and knowledge of effective activities to foster higher skill development
